Tearoom (Teach in English Atmosphere)

Projemiz, okulumuzda yabancı dil eğitimine yeni başlamış olan 1nci sınıf öğrencilerimizin dil konuşma becerilerini geliştirme, dil öğretimine ve konuşma etkinliklerine yenilik getirme amacındadır. Her iki haftada bir düzenli olarak okulumuzun öğrenci gazinosu, çay evine dönüştürülmektedir. Burada İngilizce konuşma atmosferi kendiliğinden oluşmaktadır; içilen çay ve kahve muhabbeti hazırlamakta, canlı müzik rahatlatmakta, kurulan stantlar paylaşım ve eğlence sunmakta, oynanan oyunlar kelime kapasitelerini arttırmaktadır. İngilizce öğretmenlerimizin ve Almanya’dan gelen dil asistanımızın önderliğinde oluşan bu ortama, okulumuz personeli de büyük bir istekle katılmakta ve İngilizce pratik yapma ve geliştirme şansı bulmaktadırlar. Bu atmosferde katılan kişi kendini İngilizce konuşmak zorunda hissetmektedir. Teach in English Atmosphere, T.E.A. ROOM öğrencilerimize özgüven kazanma, farkında olma, yeterlilik, sosyalleşme, paylaşım, kendini geliştirme, kıyaslama, gözlem, arkadaşlık, İngilizcelerini geliştirme, hedef dilin kültür ve geleneklerini öğrenme ortamı sağlamaktadır. Ülkemizde en iddialı İngilizce Konuşma Atmosferi oluşturduğumuzu düşündüğümüz projemiz, birçok hizmet içi kursta dil öğretmenlerine sunulabilir somut bir Speaking Portfolio’ dur. T.E.A. adıyla da bir metot ve teknik olarak dil öğretiminde yer alabilir.

Our Project aims to bring innovation in English language teaching and speaking activities, to develop speaking language skills of the 1st grade students having started a new foreign language education at our school. Every fortnight our school canteen is transformed into the tea room regularly. Here, the English speaking atmosphere is composed by itself; drinking tea & coffee prepares the chatting atmosphere, the live music relaxes, the established stands offer enjoyment and sharing, the played games increases their English word capacity. Also our school staff is eager to join this atmosphere composed by the leadership of our English Teachers, our language assistant who came from Germany and all participants have a chance to develop and practise their own English. In this atmosphere, the participants feel forced and invited to speak English. Teach in English Atmosphere, T.E.A. ROOM provides students an ambiance to have self-confidence, awareness and self-awareness, competence, socialization, sharing, self-improvement, comparison, monitoring, companionship, English language development, culture and traditions of the target language. In our country, we think we created the most ambitious project for English Speaking Atmosphere and this project may be presented in many teachers training courses as a concrete Speaking Portfolio. T.E.A. can be a project brand that combines and enriches existing foreign language teaching methods and techniques.  T.E.A. is also open to future evolution and innovation and does not stop with this presentation. Input from teachers, students and outside sources can lead this project to new dimensions. We are eager to share the idea of this project with schools at a regional, national and European level.
